Birthday Shout-Out on Phillies last Day Off

A Happy Birthday shout out
to my younger brother who’s older than he wants to be, a father of 3 and
another on the way…

Since he’s lives in England
he’s not a baseball fan, but he’s an English football fan, and he
supports Liverpool, which I guess is kind of like being a Yankee fan,
once upon a time they won most things, but now it’s just a dream.

The football fans in England
tend to sing a lot at games in support of their team, so for his
birthday here’s the fans of Liverpool, known locally as the Kop singing their long time anthem.

It is tough to imagine,
Anfield, home to the Liverpool Football Club has had a record attendance
of just under 62,000. Although the video gives you a good idea of what
it’s like, you would have to imagine over half of a sold out baseball
stadium singing in unison to understand the full effect of being at a
game.

I guess my brother posted this under the wrong post so here it is:

Good evening, older brother. Great shout for me, thank you..! I’ll never tire of the mighty Kop in full voice. All of your bloggers should be introduced to the magic that is ‘Fernando Torres’..! The boy is a god, and the game doesn’t take up any where near as much of your evening as baseball..!(Baseball is cool, so keep what’s left of your hair on..!) Keep up all the good work mate, this site is a credit to you. I shall join in whenever I can, however as you’ve already mentioned I have child number 4 dropping any day, therefore I may be tied up for a while..! (I’m stopping at 4, and buying a tv..!) Take it easy mate, miss you both. USA’s gain is our loss, but hey….you supported Everton so they can have you..! x Gaz

Hmm.. I couldn’t imagine life without baseball, yet life with soccer. It would be crazy to cheer day in day out at a soccer game. Good luck to him and great post. Thanks so much for stopping by!! πŸ˜‰ Congrats to your brother and happy b-day!!

Happy birthday, Gaz! Have a great day and good luck with the new baby “dropping any day.” Even though your bro is a Phillies fan, I bet you would be a Yankee fan if you lived in America. Just a guess.

I often wonder how cool it would be in America would get on board with the world and love soccer like everyone else. I think it would be kind of nice. But I love me some baseball and I also love watching those Phillies win, I don’t know about you, but i’d like to see them play a little bit better against the Marlins this time around

Buz – I think the main core are set…
Ted – having enjoyed both, baseball is much more time consuming, but both are just as much fun….
Jane – he’ll be very appreciative that someone of your caliber wished him a happy birthday….as a partner in the #1 realtor in his area, he gets off on things like happy b’days from authors..LOL
tpd – I’m hoping for some major wins over the Fish, but could you imagine all that singing and scarf waving throughout CBP, it’s deafening now, imagine another 15,000 or more people…

Wow. I think I’d enjoy an English football match (or is it called a ‘test’? Game?). I could get totally sloshed and no one would pay me any attention. That’s what I call fan heaven.

Jeff – A Test match is a cricket match or series of matches..too complicated to explain… sloshed..yes…most are…fan heaven…if you get out alive and drunk it’s been a really good day…if your team wins too…best day ever…so yeah you would fit right in…

Happy birthday! or is it belated now? My brother Vic follows Barcelona and Honduran soccer in addition to watching other teams. There are two guys in my department that are soccer fans. One roots for Manchester United and the other for Liverpool.
    .
The only soccer I watch is during the World Cup.
    .
I am exited about the magic numbers! Dodgers most likely will clinch on the road.

Happy Birthday to your baby brother! =)

I’ve been to England twice….and loved it both times.

Anyhow, you mentioned the singing at the soccer games in England…that brings up one of my admittedly minor beefs with the Phillies’ TV announcers: they talk thru any crowd singing, ignoring it, totally missing the charm of tens of thousands of people forming, for the moment, a huge choir. Cases in point: any 7th inning stretch singing that we might get to hear, should commercials end before the singing is over.

This brings to mind how very much I don’t like Wheels or Tom McCarthy. I think it’s time for another venting on my blog. =)

I watched the Colt’s-Dolphins game on TV last night, and kept looking at the baseball diamond at the end of the field… Wonder what the magic number will be tonight?

Our magic number’s down to five, Peter! After all my suffering, the Yanks pulled through to take two of three from those annoying Halos. I bet you’re just waiting to see what happens when Boston comes around! πŸ˜‰

Thanks for stopping by. You are my first comment and I’ve been here for a couple months. I am a baseball fan in general but I will admit that the Phillies are one of my favorite teams. I am always rooting for them…unless they’re playing the Mets and then I feel some inner conflict. I think that if the Angels make it all the way, the Phillies are they’re biggest adversary. Not much has changed for the Phillies since the last time they won.

Congrats and happy birthday to your brother.
