Phillies Sign Placido Polanco to 3 Year Deal….

Phillies look to have completed
plans for 3rd base, although this morning it seemed to still be just a
rumor, in fact the Hot
Stove
was reporting the Astros as contenders last night, while today
he was in Philadelphia for a medical, the Phillies fans can celebrate
the return of Placido Polanco.

In a deal that is reportedly
worth $18 million for 3 years, it seems Placido was willing to move to
3rd base to get the opportunity to return to a Phillies uniform.

    Great signing.
This move by the Phillies dramatically upgraded their corner infield spot for the 2010 season.
It might be a position that Polanco might not have started at since his utility days, but he does have time at the hot corner.
And his bat will be a nice addition to the Phillies everyday lineup.
Slowly and surely the Phillies are gearing up for another run towards the top prize in 2010.

This will help them with the bat, but it will be interesting to see if the 2009 Gold Glove winner at second base will be able to adapt back to third.

he is surely worth the money and effort needed to sign him. relaible with the bat and as we saw last year, the glove as well. moving him to 3rd makes him one of the best 3rd baseman in the game
