the NEW
October Listing
at the MLBlogosphere
provided by our fearless leader the illustrious Mark of MLBlogs.
(enough sucking up for one day)

As with most people you scanned the list to see where your own ‘BLOG’
had landed on the final list of the season, then you went down to the comments
section, added your usual complimentary comment and moved on. How many actual
pay attention to the list of blogs other than where it concerns your blog?

How many would notice an anomaly in the list, I’m not talking
about ‘Confessions of a
She Fan’
not being at number 1, or ‘Red
State Blue State’
not being at number 2, (although they did lose that
status last
month
).
I am talking about things like the numbers at the bottom of the
‘Fan Blog’ list having 2 number 44’s and being out of order or even a less recognized
blog in the community being moved from the ‘Fan Blogs’ to the ‘Pro Blogs’
listing, who would actually notice that….?

So now all that’s left to find out is ‘what do I get ?’, now my
blog has ‘PRO’ status, do I get a cute ‘MLB PRO BLOG’ logo for the top of blog
page, or do I get erased from the list quietly, without a ripple being created
in the world of MLBlogs, or maybe just nothing happens and I remain in obscurity
at the bottom of a list of names….

WTF Award for June goes to …..

– PhilliesOutside –

June the month of ‘VOTE FOR ME‘ is finally over and July the month of
WE WANT HIM‘ begins, it’s also time for the June 2010 WTF Award.
I had already given my we wants back in May, to close out a post entitled ‘Weekend
from Hell’
, all of my suggestions are still viable options.

The group of Mr. Popularities
will all gather in Los Angeles in a few days and pretend like they give a sh-t
about each other, for some it’s more a time of networking, a time they can meet
those that may be able to mention their name to the right person that may give
them a shot at getting on a post season team, for others it’s another chance to
screw the fans out of more money.

Mr Selig,  different twist for next years All Star Game,  consider
this, the NL manager
selecting the AL starting lineup
and the AL manager selecting the NL starting lineup, with obvious restrictions
like the player has to have had so many starts in that position during the
season, this would truly make the managers work on selecting the players
they would want to face and then have to work with players that may not be the
very best of the best and may not be very popular either, they would have to
select 1 player from each team. The pitchers could be selected in a similar way,
not only would this, I think make things a little more interesting it would give
some of those less popular players a chance to be in the camera eye and have a
national stage.

I hope everyone has used up those 25 votes per email address and if you have
the time you can get more email addresses. I also wonder why we don’t have text voting yet, you know text such ‘n’
such
number to this number if you want to vote for so ‘n’ so. They
could again restrict it to so many votes per mobile number per player.

This may seem like a post about prompting you to vote, but actually deep down I think the popularity contests should be reserved
for beauty pageants, dog shows, celebrity apprentice and American Idol, since
the voting is always fixed (according to my secret sources) it shouldn’t
matter to them how the voting goes.

Unlike the WTF Award, where the voting is fair, it’s uncomplicated, there is
no room for cheating, and everyone has an even chance of winning.

WTF Award for June 2010, nominations are:

Jim Joyce is nominated, not because he made umpires seem almost
human by showing tears in his eyes, not because he stood up like a man and said “I
got it wrong”,
the nomination for Jim Joyce is based
purely and simply on the fact that he F-CKED UP.

New York Mets Front Office for those who are thinking, what the
hell did they do to make the list, well it could be that despite having all the
Miller Highlife removed for abusive pricing they still manage to have patrons consume
huge amounts of adult beverages, no that wasn’t it, it is of course the giving
up of Jerry Seinfeld’s personal box to Lady GaGa.

Adidas, if you’ve seen any of the news you’d know that
Adidas
re-invented the ball, as with every World Cup anything new everyone has
to have their say and the complaints of the ball not moving right or flying
through the air like it’s a drunk driver, truth is if your a professional a ball
is a ball is a ball, get over it, Adidas however, well done on
adding to the world a perfect round spherical object that people kick.

Detroit Tigers what other team could say that the last call of
2 different games in one month were totally wrong, yes the game against the
Indians should have
been a no hitter and the game against the Braves should have gone to extra
innings, but nothing in the world of baseball is really perfect, which is why
when this happens we say WTF.

Florida, the whole damn state, why, because only Florida as a
state could have it’s baseball teams in the media for being no hit 3 times, for
firing a manager, and site searching for new ball park locations, yet a tourist
map giving a sporting look at Florida doesn’t show anything remotely
related to baseball.

There were a few others that could have been on the list, but the final
winner of June 2010 WTF Award, goes to an individual who, during June took his
life to a new level, showed everyone he can be more than anyone ever thought
possible, in an instant this person stepped up and became a man in front of the
whole world, he’s by no means the first to show everyone what he’s capable when
it’s needed, this person could be a true great friend to those that need one,
this person went above and beyond their normal routine, this person made me
say WTF.

….you guessed it, RSBS co-host
Allen Krause, who during the
month of June came out of the closet and showed everyone he does know how to use
the comment feature at MLBlogs. You can see how I originally reported the incident
here
, or alternatively you can visit the actual WTF happening here
and scroll down to the 5th comment.

Is McGwire on PED’s again ?

– PhilliesOutside –

The Phillies returned home yesterday and
took some rest, more like some, gather my thoughts time, and while some
players were probably reflecting on how best to ignite the offense, so they
don’t end up with a sell out ‘boo-bird’ stadium this weekend, others I am
sure were checking out the Rollins’ Basebowl Tournament, an event J-Roll
hosts every year, I just hope he played it safe with his calf injury and took no
risks.

The San Diego Padres are in town for the
weekend, it seems like the Phillies are
getting no breaks, they just got off a road trip, which put them in all the over
sized ball parks with hot teams and now they get home to host another hot
team
in the Padres, if they can break
out of this, whatever it is, over the weekend then they will deserve
every run and hit they get against this Padres
team that is currently dominating the West.

Other news in baseball, it seems that Mark McGwire has been at it
again, yep you guessed it, this time he can’t deny it, cause there is no way in
hell a guy like him knocks up a chick like his wife and then she has triplets,
all girls on June 1st, yep gotta believe he was poppin’ the blue ones. On a side
note, that I didn’t pick up on at the time and haven’t seen mentioned anywhere,
yes I know Stephanie McGwire is his 2nd wife, but she was a pharmaceutical rep
when they met, is that weird or is it me.

The most important news from yesterday around MLB, was actually here
in the Blogosphere, not it’s not the fact that the Blogosphere’s
front page depicted the almost perfect game, but at the time chose not to depict
Roy Halladay’s actual perfect game, it isn’t the fact that the Blogosphere’s
front page went through a quick change to cover the retirement of "KG
Jr."
, it wasn’t even the fact that after yesterday’s post I managed to
get through the day without having my blog cancelled by ‘The Man’ Mark Newman,
who’s really a nice guy, (sucking up), or the  geeky guru powers at
his disposal within the Blogosphere… No people this event almost
got my WTF award for June, it is definitely still in the running, depending on
the rest of the month, this earth shattering event happened at none other than RSBS
I hear you ask, what other than Jeff falling off a female sCrUBS fan in a
drunken stuper, could possibly be earth shattering at RSBS
– Well I have the proof in pictures, for all of you who are familiar
with the escapades of Jeff and Al, you’ll know that both try to alternate posts
on the blog, but it seems Jeff is the only one who knows how to comment, well I
have the proof…..

….that’s definitely AL’s handtyping, I have it on good
authority and if you want to see the evidence for your self just click the link
at the end and scroll down to the 5th comment…. click

Time to get ready for the Phillies vs Padres and hopefully the
next big news story will be the Phillies breaking out of this…

……what ever it is

N. L. Central Crystal Ball….

NLcentralcrystalball.jpg
The National League Central is probably the easiest of the divisions to select a winner, but could also be the one where it all goes wrong. This division could hinge on the performance and health of just 2 players, I will make clear those players when I get to the team they relate too. As always we’ll start with the team I think will end up in a heap of trouble this year.

The Houston Astros fans should consider the latest fashion accessory…

astrosrayban.jpg

…these NEW Ray Ban sunglasses will be needed to hide the Phillies glare on the players Ed Wade seems to think will work better in Astros uniforms when they didn’t work in Phillies red pinstripes. Ed Wade can be very good for the Astros, he just has to get over the fact that some players aren’t as good as he thought. It will be a tight race at the bottom of this division, but I think till Ed Wade gets over the fact that the players he really liked when he drafted them into the Phillies aren’t what he needs in Houston then the Astros will struggle to get out of the bottom spot, which is a shame, because the Astros are normally a very tough team especially in the final few weeks of the season.

The Chicago Cubs fans need nothing more than high speed internet and a wonderful download…

laptop.jpg

…courtesy of our friends at RSBS they have explained it all for me and made it clear to the rest of the world as to why the Cubs will this year be a below .500 team. It’s true see for yourselves the video doesn’t lie, it’s from a very reliable inside source.

The Pittsburgh Pirates fans will be able to do some serious….

pirateschampagne.jpg
…partying this year, no they’re not going to win the division or the ‘Wild Card’, but they will be a .500 or better team this season. They have everything going for them, a double McCutchen and believe it or not Milledge will be the player the Nats hoped he would be, just in a Pirates uniform.

The Milwaukee Brewers fans need a trip to Europe to visit….

petersbrauhaus.jpg
…my Brewers, okay so it’s not the same type of brewers, but still a worthwhile event especially in October, they have tours of this Kölsch brewery in Köln. It’s still a family run brewery, or it was when I was there last which is a few years ago now. Why this one because it’s got my name, it’s not actually my brewery. If you go around October time you’ll be able to hop a brief train ride to München and enjoy the Oktoberfest celebrations, as there will be no reason to celebrate for Brewers fans here in October.

The Cincinnati Reds fans may already have just the thing to help their season…

redseasybutton.jpg

…their very own easy button. No not because your going to walk away with the division, but because it’s going to be such hard work to stay up with the leading team, you’ll need something to make the occasional day seem easy.

The St. Louis Cardinals fans are going to enjoy another runaway year, the biggest problem for the STL fans is their unfortunate grasp on reality, so for that you will need your very own…

virtualSTLreality.jpg

St. Louis Cardinals ‘Virtual Reality’ machine, because of the delusions of a World Series you will need this machine to fulfill that fantasy, otherwise there may be suicidal tendencies, when a team from the East crushes your dreams as they move into the World Series. Now obviously this is all predicated on the fact that the player known as ‘Poo-hole’ doesn’t end up on the DL with back problems and of course that the now highest paid ‘butterfingers’ can actually catch a fly ball to left field.

any sarcasm is not meant to offend,
unless it does, then consider the possibilities of more during the
season.
